Reiki

History of Reiki

Reiki is the Japanese word for the Universal Life Force Energy that is all around us.

The Usui Reiki system was rediscovered in the late 1800s by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese Christian educator at an institution of higher learning. When questioned by his theology students about healing the physical body, Dr. Usui did not know the answers to their questions.

Since he was bound by honor to answer their questions, he traveled, researched and collaborated with religious leaders, but to no avail. No religion or sect knew how to heal by the laying on of hands. However at the end of his 30 year search Dr. Usui finally found the answers in the Tibetan Sutras and soon after that he became empowered to perform the actual healing.

The Usui system of Reiki is still taught by Reiki Masters who are trained in the original traditions of Reiki and whose personal and professional lives are committed to this healing art.

Reiki provides people with the means to maintain balance in their own health and that of their family and friends. Reiki can also be incorporated easily and effectively into the healing arts by health care professionals.


Class Content

Reiki 1st Degree: In this class students learn the history of Reiki, the initial symbols and about the immune system. They learn the hand positions and then practice Reiki on themselves and other students under the caring supervision of a Reiki Master.

Each student is then "attuned" to Reiki by the Reiki Master using traditional Reiki symbols in a sacred ceremony. The student is now empowered to practice Reiki on her/himself and in the service of others. The only prerequisites for learning Reiki are a desire to learn it's history, symbols and hand positions and then make a commitment to use Reiki regularly.

Reiki 2nd Degree: is for students that have completed Reiki I, are using Reiki frequently and are willing to renew their commitment to the use of Reiki. They learn and practice the methods developed by Dr. Usui for sending Reiki at a distance. This further enhances their healing skills.

Reiki Mastership: is usually a year long process in which the student and Master agree on a meeting schedule and the goals the student wishes to achieve. This process prepares the student for teaching Reiki although teaching is not required at this level.

Reiki is more alive today than it was hundreds of years ago when it was recorded in the sutras. It continues to grow through the effort and dedication of Reiki Masters and their students as they assist others to find balance. health and harmony in their lives.

William has been a Reiki Master for over 13 years. He's also a Licensed Psychotherapist and Licensed Massage Therapist. His deep sense of caring is felt as he assists others in their emotional clearing and spiritual unfolding.
